Beijing Lucky Cookies Bakery Longfu Building
We decide to turn the usually back-of-house kitchen into a displayable feature of the project, “live broadcasting” the pastry making process to the pedestrian. Utilizing both interior and exterior patio seating areas, we design a series of isomorphic “rocks” scattered around both inside and outside the store, each carrying a function such as machine room, cooking table, cashier desk, display stand, bench, light box signage, etc. They help to weaken the boundaries of the store by visually and spatially connecting across the site border, allowing the space to “flow” in and out freely, eliminating the sense of restraint caused by the small area.
