Shanghai 2018 Tube Showroom

The design task was to create a one week long temporary fashion farmer’s market of clothe in the museum with limited budget. Instead of using typical convention center type of layout which only includes exhibition booth and passage way, we would like to divide the site with soft material to achieve a flexible circulation, clear visual connection, and maze-like space to intrigue the collective interaction among different fashion brands and visitors.
White metal curtain, elastic fabric, and metal frame are the main material composition of this project. Accompanied with linear LED light strip, we are hoping to create a space with hip and flea market atmosphere. Translucent scrim flows in the space, like smoky veil for the loudly designed attires. Trend leaders and fashion buyers’ busy figures are blurred behind the scrims, which seems to remind people that the ephemeral exhibition will end in a week. Just like the iterative fashion industry, farewell and new born are happening every second. (text from architects)
