Xintiandi is a witness to the changes in Shanghai over the past century. These times means different for everyone, with different joys and sorrows, and different lives. The common memory of millions of people is a year number like “2001”. The designer compressed this 20th anniversary into a transparent glass for each year, looking like a coverslip, a “time specimen” is collected in this way. After abstracting the collective emotion, a transparent faint red color is obtained. These red squares, symbolizing the specimens of time, are floated in the square of Xintiandi.
